Marist180 welcomes the 2025–26 Queensland State Budget as a recognition that building a fairer Queensland starts with creating real pathways for people to participate in work, learning, and community life.

At Marist180, we work with young people who are ready to take a step forward but need the right support to do it. In our Construction Traineeship program in Zillmere and surrounding suburbs, we’ve seen what happens when that support is in place: young people who’ve struggled to find work gain their first qualification, build confidence on real worksites, and move into jobs that offer stability and purpose.

This isn’t theory — it’s happening now. And it’s happening because programs like Skilling Queenslanders for Work exist.

We’ve seen participants go from uncertainty to employment. We’ve seen the impact of a structured, supportive environment where learning is hands-on, and progress is visible.

We’ve seen the difference it makes when someone believes in your potential and gives you the tools to act on it.

So, when we see increased funding for these programs—and new investment in free training, employer support, and regional infrastructure—we see more than a budget line. We see more young people getting a fair go.

We look forward to continuing this work, alongside government, employers, and communities—because when we invest in people, we all benefit.
